One of the most photographed trees on earth sits in the Japanese Garden in the heart of Portland Oregon. This garden has a variety of beautiful trees and flowers, but the real show stopper is this Japanese Maple with it's twisted branches and gorgeous colours.
I nearly missed this shot. I had visited the garden late in the afternoon and walked around for an hour, I found a tree that looked almost exactly like it and thought I had got the shot. I returned to my hostel and uploaded my shots and something didn't feel right so I went online and found that the I had shot the wrong tree.
It was 6:45 and the garden closed at 7:30, my hostel was 10 minutes away and I was headed home the next day. So I scrambled to my car and drove back to the garden I made it back to the correct tree with 30 minutes to shoot. The place was so busy earlier in the day but at this time there were hardly any people, not even a soul at the tree. I was grateful for this since I had little time to shoot.
It's funny how life works out, I got the shot I wanted in the end with no one in sight all because I missed the first try.
