• Image of Kilauea's Breath

In the centre of our planet burning red hot, moving like a fiery ocean, is molten rock. Standing from my vantage point in almost pure darkness the only thing illuminating the sky was a glow from the belly of Kilauea. Had this extraordinary scene not been enough, not a single sound could be heard, even the wind dared not break the silence, until only what could be described as a faint boom of thunder followed by the rumble of an avalanche along with the crashing of waves emerged from the glowing crater. A sound that I won't soon forget, Kilauea had its own song to sing that night.
